A child’s weight is the symptom.

We help parents solve the root causes — ADHD, emotional eating, food addiction, anxiety, and family dynamics — so their child can feel healthy and confident.

What happens after the family leaves the pediatrician

The home environment doesn’t change

Your clinical advice is sound. But families return to the same dinner fights, screen-time battles, and emotional patterns that drove the weight gain in the first place.

A 15-minute visit can’t cover daily life

Impulsivity, emotional eating, anxiety, and food sneaking happen at dinner, bedtime, and on weekends, never in your office. Families need real-time support, not a check-in weeks later.

Most programs aren’t safe to refer to

Families need somewhere that won’t shame the child, push restrictive diets, or contradict your treatment plan. It’s a short list.

What changes in less than 4 months

Chris (dad): We started creating a culture of “why.” Why are you reaching for food right now? What emotion or need is underneath it? Instead of reacting to the food, the phone, or the game, we started understanding the root cause.

Bev (mom): The biggest change was our family’s relationship with food. Once I started understanding what I was feeling instead of reaching for food, those habits started to go away with the kids too.

Michael (dad): We talked many times about needing to find a solution for her overeating, and even talked about it like an addiction. This helped us understand how food and ADHD were connected, and put health farther up the priority chain.

Holly (mom): The biggest change is that our family is on a different trajectory. Our daughter started questioning things instead of automatically going back for more food.

George (son): Before, when my mom tried to help me, I usually rejected it. But through Step Together, I started hearing it differently. I became more aware of why I was eating, and how to make better choices.

Jess (mom): I have a health degree and researched childhood obesity, but I still felt stumped. You helped him more in 16 weeks than I have in 16 years.

What Step Together is — and what it isn’t

What we are

A parent-first behavioral, emotional, and nutritional support program for families navigating childhood excess weight, ADHD-driven eating, emotional eating, and the daily realities of food, screens, and sleep at home.

What we are not

We do not diagnose, prescribe, or treat medical conditions. We do not contradict your treatment plan, and we do not promote restrictive dieting or weight-focused pressure on the child.

How we stay in our lane

If a child needs clinical evaluation, that’s yours. If protocols, supplementation, or medication are appropriate, that stays between the family and you. Our job is daily implementation between visits.

How we support your patients between visits

What happens after a family is referred to Step Together.

01

A free 1-hour family assessment

Every family starts with a free Family Nutritional Therapy Session. We look far beyond food — at sleep, screen time, emotional regulation, anxiety, ADHD-like symptoms, food environment, family dynamics, parent modeling, and the emotional tone in the home. Both parents are involved whenever possible, because both parents shape the child's behavior.

02

Parent-first, so the child never feels like the problem

Parents shape the environment, set the routines, decide what comes into the home, model coping patterns, and create the structure that makes healthy behavior easier or harder. Working with the parents protects the child's self-esteem and body image while still creating change.

03

A dedicated childhood weight loss expert in their corner every week

Every family is paired with a dedicated childhood weight loss expert who meets with them at least once a week — someone who has personally lived through and overcome childhood weight struggles. They keep the family on track between your visits, help parents respond to the hard moments, and turn your clinical guidance into real behavior change at home.

04

Daily accountability — weekdays, weekends, holidays

When there's a meltdown at dinner, food sneaked at a party, or a child refusing anything except highly stimulating foods, the family has support in real time. This is what turns clinical advice into sustained behavior change at home.

05

Aligned with — never replacing — your clinical care

If a child needs clinical evaluation, we support that. If labs or testing need review, that's your lane. If protocols, supplementation, or medication are appropriate, that's a conversation between the family and you. We handle the daily behavioral, emotional, nutritional, and family-environment work between visits.

Take care of the children
and everything will work out.

Children are the future building blocks of our society.

If they are sick, the foundation of our future is sick.

We believe every child deserves the right to grow to their fullest potential, not be medicated into compliance or profited off by an industry that treats symptoms and ignores the root cause.

Meet the Founder

Kamy Moussavi

Kamy Moussavi

Nutritional Therapist

As an Engineer turned Nutritional Therapist, I know what it feels like to be the overweight child who is bullied, ashamed, and silently struggling.

My family tried everything to help me. Diets, programs, exercise, restriction. None of it worked because none of it addressed the real issue. My weight was a symptom of something much deeper.

That is why I founded Step Together. We help you understand what is really happening underneath your child's eating, so you can solve the real problem instead of fighting the symptom.

How to refer a family

Two ways, depending on how much you’d like to know about us first.

Send a family to apply

The simplest way. Point parents to steptogether.us/apply. They fill out a short application and are scheduled for a free 1-hour Family Nutritional Therapy Session, usually within the same week, not months on a waitlist.

In that first session a Nutritional Therapist looks far beyond food. They assess sleep, screen time, emotional regulation, ADHD-like symptoms, food environment, and family dynamics, and give the family a clear picture of what’s actually driving their child’s weight.

More families, more life-changing results

Jason (Dad): At first, I thought the kids just needed to do what I told them to do because I’m the parent. But I started realizing that my behavior, what I was eating, my activity level, all of it was impacting their success. Once I leaned in, we started seeing more success as a family.

Melissa (Mom): The kids are more confident, more willing to try new foods, and more aware of what they’re putting in their bodies. My son even turned down a popsicle at football practice and said he didn’t want to waste the progress he had made. Those small changes are huge for us.

Schwa (Dad): Step Together orchestrated an awakening in me and in our family. Physical and emotional health became something we treasured, when before it had no real value. We stopped treating this like just a weight problem and started seeing it as a whole-family change.

Katrina (Mom): After the summer, people at school and around town started noticing the change in Jackson. At the football game, someone asked, “Did Jackson lose like 20 pounds? He looks great.” That was the moment we could see how much had shifted for him.

Daren (dad): Before this, we were battling screen time, snacking, sneaking food, and eating in rooms. Nothing we tried seemed to make it better. Step Together helped us understand the reasons behind the habits, instead of just cracking down and enforcing rules. Now the kids do the right things without even having to be told. It’s become second nature.

Amelia (mom): I didn’t want my son to suffer the way I did, hiding food, binge eating, feeling made fun of, or feeling like the last one. Now he’s happier, more balanced, and he doesn’t have to hide food anymore. He even tells us he’s lost weight without us ever asking about it.
